Mokwena Remains Coy On Adams Signing

Rulani Mokwena remained coy about the rumours of Mamelodi Sundowns’ interest in Stellenbosch FC midfielder Jayden Adams.

Sundowns have been heavily linked with Adams since returning from the AFCON in Ivory Coast. This publication explained that Sundowns only enquired about Adams and there was no deal agreement.

Mokwena remained coy about the rumours of Sundowns being interested in Adams and explained how the transfer policy works at Downs.

“At the moment the answer is no,” Mokwena told the media.

“I haven’t submitted a report, that’s the starting point I have to summarise the performances of the squad, then I have to give the detailed report to the senior management and to the sporting director – also some directives on where to strengthen and would be very difficult to answer your question with a definite yes or no without having concluded my technical report with my technical team.”

The follow-up question was that, by this time surely he had already identified who to bring at Sundowns for the upcoming season.

“I thought about it but I haven’t put it into paper and submitted it,” Mokwena replied.

“The way we work at the club is very different, the coach has to get through the season, we‘ve got a sporting director now who deals with the transfers and the dealings but of course, those are based on recommendations from the coach and the technical team that’s how the process works.”
