Monyane On Tito & Rele’s PSL Awards Nominations

Orlando Pirates right-wing-back Thabiso Monyane has expressed joy for his teammates Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng who have been nominated in the PSL end-of-season awards.

Maswanganyi who joined Pirates this season from SuperSport United, is nominated in four categories – DStv Premiership Player’s Player of the season, MTN8 Last Man Standing, Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament and the DStv Premiership Midfielder of the season.

Mofokeng, 19, is nominated in two categories – the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Season and the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season. All-in-all, there are seven players from Pirates up for awards in different categories including coach Jose Riveiro.

Monyane told iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu recently that the nominations are as a result of the work the team has put in during the season, saying players wouldn’t be able to shine if the team wasn’t good.

“It’s all the work that we’ve been putting in,” Monyane told iDiski Times.

“And it’s not only individuals but you know you shine as an individual in a team that’s working together and my oh my I’m so proud of this. I’m so proud of them because I know how badly we wanted this and for them individually it’s quite a big achievement, especially for Tito.

“Coming from SuperSport not playing as regularly and coming to us and playing that just shows that as a team we are doing the right thing, we are doing a positive thing.

“And that shows how the team chemistry is, it shows how positive we are and personally, I’m so happy for them, even for Rele to be mentioned as a Young footballer of the Season. I’m so, so happy for him. I wish and hope that this continues into the next season because we know what we want to achieve as a team, as a club, as football players.”
