Pirates Give Injury Update Ahead Of Final DStv Prem Clash

Orlando Pirates have given an injury-update ahead of their must-win final game of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, confirming that Nkosinathi Sibisi is likely to replace the suspended Tapelo Xoki.

The latter picked up an automatic suspension in the 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United, which means he’ll sit out the game against AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, there were positive news for captain Innocent Maela, who looked ready to return after missing the last three games with an injury.

“The Buccaneers will be missing the services of defender Tapelo Xoki, who is forced to sit out the encounter due to a one-match ban after picking up a fourth yellow for the season in the game against Sekhukhune last Saturday,” the club stated.

“They could however be boosted in defence with the potential return of captain Innocent Maela, while Nkosinathi Sibisi is likely to slot back into the starting XI after being rested over the weekend.”

Pirates need a win, and hope SuperSport United, who are level on 51 points, don’t win their game by a four goals, to secure second place and their participation in next year’s CAF Champions League.

In case of a draw or defeat, they would need to hope that Matsatsantsa won’t beat Sekhukhune in their final DStv Premiership encounter.
