Riveiro Lists Pirates’ Positives At Halfway Mark

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has explained why the future will be ‘very interesting’ for the club as they complete the first half of the season.

Pirates are in third, trailing second-placed SuperSport United by four points after their defeat at the Peter Mokaba Stadium,

But there have been some changes within the squad this season due to the emergence of Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi and Evidence Makgopa, among the names of players who still have a long future in the game.

“The first round is done, 15 games, now we start with the second round against Stellenbosch at home, and yeah we try to look to the positives,” he said after the 3-1 defeat against United in Polokwane on Saturday afternoon.

“There are many positives in this team, a lot of new players in the squad, young players who are making an impact in the league – if you think about the age of our players, this talent, we can only improve so the future is going to be very interesting for Pirates.”

Pirates host Carling Knockout champions Stellenbosch on Friday, 29 December which marks their final game before the Africa Cup of Nations break.
