Amorim Reveals Why He ‘Does Not Like’ Man United Fans’ Chant

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim admits that he’s not fond of the tribute song United fans have for him, saying he prefers if fans chanted it for the players instead.

Amorim, 39, took charge of his first game away at Ipswich last month, in a 1-1 draw, and it was at that match fans sang Amorin’s name to the tune of Give it Up by KC and the Sunshine Band.

Ahead of United’s FA Cup Third Round tie against Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday, the Portuguese mentor said that he would prefer it if fans chanted for his players instead.

“I don’t like my chant,” said Amorim, according to Daily Mail.

“I feel a little bit, not embarrassed, but because I’m the coach, they have to chant for the players and for the club. So, it’s not a good thing for me.

“I understand and really appreciate the connection with the supporters, but I want them to support the team and the players because they are on the pitch and I’m outside the pitch.

“But I am really honoured by that. I feel a connection with the supporters, but we know we need results to maintain that.”

Amorim has overseen three matches in all competitions, claiming two wins and a draw but faces a real test tonight against Mikel Arteta’s free-scoring Gunners.
