Manchester United have announced the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans on a five-year deal until 2031 for a reported fee of £35m.
The Belgian captain, 29, becomes the Red Devils’ second summer signing under head coach Michael Carrick ahead of the resumption of the English Premier League campaign next month.
United most recently completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos in a deal worth £37million with the 22-year-old Brazilian putting pen to a five-year contract until June 2031 with the option to extend for a further year.
Tielemans’ capture comes after the Old Trafford outfit pulled out of a £39m deal for Atalanta and Brazil midfielder Ederson.
Though Tielemans still has two years left on his deal at Villa Park, United acted swiftly to trigger his release clause.
He most recently led Belgium at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, but they suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 quarterfinal defeat to Spain.
