Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy and his new team Sabah FK have progressed to the second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League.
Sabah eased past Welsh champions The New Saints, beating them 2-1 away from home on Tuesday evening.
Both goals were scored before the break, as Sabah progressed 4-1 on aggregate after also winning the home leg 2-0 last week.
However, McCarthy remained an unused substitue after making his Sabah debut in the dying minutes of last week’s reverse fixture.
Sabah will face Finish champions Kuopion Palloseura, commonly referred to as KuPS, in the second qualifying round for the Champions League league phase.
KuPS beat Macedonian side Vardar 4-3 on aggregate but had to go through extra-time. Despite winning the first leg 2-0 away from home, Vardar were leading in Finland 2-0 after 90 minutes, but KuPS managed to make the score 2-3 in extra-time.
