Appollis Set For Next Move

Polokwane City and Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis is set to leave the club for a move to North Africa.

Appollis has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs and Esperance Sportive de Tunis in recent weeks after reviving his career at Polokwane in the 2023/24 season.

The diminutive midfielder, 22, broke into the senior South Africa national team set-up where he was also part of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations third-place squad.

iDiski Times have been informed Wydad Athletic Club, Zamalek, MC Alger have been among those in contact with the club, but the door remains wide open as in recent weeks several transfer hijackings have taken place between the giants of Algerian football.

It remains to be seen where Appollis will be playing his football this season, after he was notably played from the bench in their 1-0 MTN8 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns this afternoon at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

In what could be seen as a move to protect the player before a lucrative transfer in the coming days, Rise and Shine’s head coach Phuti Mohafe denied that notion, stating his omission from the first eleven was ‘tactical’, when speaking in the post-match press conference.

However, it appears the club, who earlier this window, ignored official bids from Taraji are now open to his multi-million rand exit, although they made it clear from the get go, that they would not entertain local offers in South Africa.

This has been the stance of another of their in-demand talents, right-back Thabang Matuludi, who broke in the South Africa national team in the 2024 Cosafa Cup.
