Benni McCarthy has reacted to Gavin Hunt’s appointment as new SuperSport United head coach.
The former AmaZulu and Cape Town City coach was also believed to be among the candidates for the head coach position, having been out of a job since leaving Usuthu earlier this year.
In the end, Matsatsantsa opted against the other candidates and decided on a reunion with Hunt, who coached the club between 2007 and 2013 already.
McCarthy sent a congrats message to his former rival, praising the club for appointing one of the country’s “finest coaches”.

“It’s right about time. Finally a sensible club going for one of Mzansi’s finest Coaches. Well done Gavin Hunt, all the best,” he wrote on social media.
Hunt returns to SSU, with the club hoping he can bring the glory days back after lifting three Premier Soccer League titles as well as a Nedbank Cup trophy during his first stint.
