Chiefs Confirm Seven Players Out, Three Doubtful

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane didn’t have good news on the injury front ahead of their final game of the season, with seven players sidelined and three being doubtful.

The Glamour Boys will face relegation-threatened Swallows at 15:00 at FNB Stadium on Saturday and will look for a win in order to keep their hopes of CAF football alive.

Amakhosi currently sit on 46 points, level on points with Royal AM, who have one game in hand, with both sitting three points behind second-placed Cape Town City.

However, Zwane and his troops will have to do it the hard way after the likes of Siyabonga Ngezana and Leonardo Castro joined Keagan Dolly, Samir Nurkovic, Lebogang Manyama and S’fiso Hlanti on the sidelines.

In addition, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Sabelo Radebe are recovering from illnesses and are doubtful for the match, while Cole Alexander is suspended.

“We want to finish the season on a high and we’ll give our best but we’re going into the game with a lot of injuries,” Zwane said on Wednesday.

“Other players as well are sick, they’re down with flu, it’s about four players that didn’t train today (Wednesday) and yesterday and we’re hoping that maybe one or two will be available tomorrow.

“As of now, these players are not available and also Castro is joining Keagan Dolly. He’s got an ankle ligament injury, a Grade 1 tear, so he might be out for some time and Keagan as well, he’s going to be out for six to eight weeks.

“There is about nine players, who are out, Siya Ngezana as well, his hamstring has been troubling him for a few games, so we’re trying not to aggravate it now.

“It will be an opportunity for other players to get a chance, Njabulo Ngcobo, Austin Dube and many other players that can play in that position. We don’t have a crisis at the back, the only challenge that we have is the offensive players that are going to be available.

“That’s where we going to be lacking, but we’ll find a way to get the best XI to get us a result.”

Chiefs will take on Swallows at the FNB Stadium on Saturday at 15:00 and fans can buy their tickets at TicketMaster, Shoprite, Checkers or by following this link.
