Legendary Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brian Baloyi has compared head coach Nasreddine Nabi to the club’s former mentor Muhsin Ertuğral in believing and giving youngsters a chance in the first team.
Ertuğral arrived at Amakhosi in 1999 and was most notable for handing a young Itumeleng Khune his debut in the senior squad at the tender age of just 16, who’s since had a career spanning over a decade at the club.

Speaking on Podcast and Chill With podcaster MacGuyver Mukwevho, ‘Spiderman’ heaped huge praise on the Tunisian mentor who has been very expressive in throwing youngsters like Wandile Duba, Mfundo Vilakazi, Samkelo Zwane and Mduduzi Shabalala into the deep end since taking over the hotseat at Naturena this term.
“I’ve had an interaction with Coach Nabi,” Baloyi told MacGee.
“He loves youngsters. He reminds me a lot of Muhsin Ertuğral.
“That’s why you’ll see the Vilakazis and Shabalalas playing so much. Your Zwane.
“You’ll see a lot of the youngsters, cos this man [Coach Nabi], like I said reminds me a lot of Muhsin Ertuğral.
“And he’s giving these youngsters a chance and for them to express themselves,” he said.

On improvements in other departments, Baloyi emphasized on the need for another striker as well as another creative midfielder who would deputize for Gaston Sirino.
“We still need here and there. Our defence is a bit shaky, but going forward I’m happy,” the former Chiefs shotstopper said.
“I’ve always said we need another striker.
“[Ranga] Chiva is turning out to step up, and I mean he’s scoring and that’s what we need from him.
“My only worry is that looking at Sirino that he’s the lifeblood and controlling the orchestra. If something had to happen to him – injury or he get sick, I’m hoping that we’re not gonna have a problem,” he further added.
