Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has revealed he spoke to Kermit Erasmus about a potential return after his Orlando Pirates exit but it also depends on other player movements.
Erasmus, 34, recently left Orlando Pirates after his contract expired with the club. He spent two seasons on his return after the exit at Mamelodi Sundowns.
The former SuperSport United forward won four trophies with Pirates, two Nedbank Cups and two MTN8 trophies. The 34-year-old is currently a free agent.
Comitis acknowledged that he spoke with Erasmus but it depends on other movements at the club.
“I have spoken to Kermit,” Comitis told Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000.
“But it’s obviously depending on our striking situation going forward because we still got Khanyisa [Mayo].
“But at this stage we haven’t made any decisions.”
Comitis also believes that the former Bafana Bafana international has what it takes to play at high level, even though he didn’t have much game-time at Pirates.
“Kermit didn’t play much at Pirates, but he’s a very effective player. He doesn’t need many minutes to show you that he’s capable of scoring goals.
“If he can keep himself on the pitch and injury-free, he’s still got lots to offer.”
The former Sundowns striker played for City when he returned from Portugal side Vitória Setúbal and spent only one season in the Mother City before moving to the City of Gold.
