Durban City Drop Points But Stay Top

Motsepe Foundation Championship log leaders Durban City dropped points after losing to Casric Stars while JDR Stars moved second after narrowly beating struggling Leruma United 2-1. 

On Friday afternoon, Eastern Cape-based side Highbury FC shocked Pretoria University 2-0 with gospel singer Mzoxolo Rafani and Matome Mabeba scoring as they moved into ninth place. 

In the other match, Casric Stars ended Durban City’s six matches unbeaten run with a solitary goal scored by Lebohang Lesako in the first half. Stars kept their name in the conversation of the title. 

In Polokwane on a hot afternoon Saturday, Donald Makgetlwa scored the only goal to secure all three points for Lidoda Duvha as Black Leopards moved eighth. 

JDR Stars took advantage of Durban City dropping points by beating Leruma United courtesy of Banele Hlophe’s brace. 

Sunday afternoon was raining goals at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium between Upington City and Cape Town Spurs which ended in a four-goal thriller as the tie finished 2-2.
