Durban City have won promotion to the Betway Premiership for next season after relegating Cape Town Spurs following a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ruzaigh Gamildien scored the only goal of the match in the 45th minute to hand Durban City the three points to seal promotion, pending their DC case – with CT Spurs playing the game under protest.
Meanwhile the result also meant that Spurs suffered back-to-back relegations after finishing on just 30 points.
In the other deciding game of the day, Casric Stars came from a goal behind to score two injury-time goals to secure the final playoff spot.
Former Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus scored the much-celebrated winner in the 95th minute which saw Casric finish on 48 points, one above Black Leopoards.
Casric join ORBIT College in the playoffs with Orbit playing to a goalless draw with already-relegated Leruma United.
