Despite not making the matchday squad, Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster’s team Burnley FC made a return to the top of the English Championship after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Norwich City at Turf Moor on Friday night.
The Clarets raced into a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first period through former Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri’s 14th-minute strike before Jaidon Anthony added the second in the 24th minute.
Jack Stacey scored a consolation for the Canaries in the 76th minute but the home side held on to come away with maximum points, three clear of second-placed Leeds.
The South African international last featured in their previous match coming on as a 76th-minute substitute in their 0-0 draw against Derby County.
Foster has been in and out of the squad with his progress being halted by injury which he sustained while on national duty with Bafana.
Scott Parker’s side next have a tough assignment on the road away to Watford at Vicarage Road on Friday, 18 April.
