Gallants Coach Makes Bold Nabi Statement After Win At FNB

Marumo Gallants head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has hailed Nasreddine Nabi as one of the biggest coaches in Africa, sympathising with his struggles at Kaizer Chiefs.

Ouaddou masterminded a 2-1 victory over Chiefs this afternoon to move level with the Soweto giants on 30 points as they sit in 10th only separated by goal difference with the ninth-placed Amakhosi.

It marks their 11th defeat of the season in the league from 25 games, which is far from what was expected when the club lured him from Botola Pro giants ASFAR at the start of the campaign.

And the Moroccan legend, who starred in Ligue 1 and amassed over 80 caps for the Atlas Lions – has thrown his weight behind Nabi’s credentials, saying it’s been a major challenge for him, whom he regards as one of the finest coaches on the continent.

“I know tonight is a very difficult night for my colleague, Nabi,” he stated.

“I know that he’s a very big name, a very big coach in Africa. He achieved great things in Morocco and in Morocco they love him.

“I think in football it’s about projects, sometimes you need time to settle your ideas, your game model. I believe he’s one of the best coaches in Africa.”
