Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson says the relationship between the club’s fans and the team is important to build.
Over the past few seasons, animosity between the supporters and the club has reached new heights with the trophy-droight extending to eight seasons.
Molefi Ntseki was attacked on four occasions before his eventual parting of ways with Amakhosi and Johnson feels it’s now important to mend as they look to the future.
“We want them to cheer our boys, win or lose because we’re trying our best, it’s not like we’re sitting back at the Village and twiddling our thumbs, we know they come out in numbers, pay their hard-earned money [to come here],” Johnson said.
“We want to inform them that we also [put in] a lot of hard work and sometimes football can be cruel for both sides, we have to accept a loss sometimes and wins that come with being a Kaizer Chiefs fan, employee, or Chiefs football player.”
Chiefs are currently sixth in the DStv Premiership, 10 points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns – who have four games in hand.
