Kgoane Opens Up On The Lipstick

2022 WAFCON winner and Banyana Banyana star Nomvula Kgoane has explained her obsession with lipstick, which has become one of the iconic moments of South Africa’s victory celebrations.

Banyana lifted their first ever WAFCON title last month, and in the latest edition of iDiski Times, Lethabo Kganyago spoke to Hildah Magaia, Kgoale and Nthabiseng Majiya about their success and also how they have been received at home since returning.

When asked about her lipstick, Kgoale laughed and explained that it gives her confidence, and she wouldn’t mind a lipstick sponsor approaching her in the future.

“The lipstick story…” Kgoale told iDiski Times.

“It started a while ago, even Marta from Brazil wears a lipstick. I feel clothed, like somebody who cannot leave the house without prayer. You have to have something that embodies you, that protects you. I feel protection every time I have my lipstick on.

“I feel like it channels my power as a woman. I’m like, yes, this is me, this is what I do.

“And in terms of sponsorship I hope Revlon is watching, I hope Mac is watching, I hope Signature, anybody out there. It really doesn’t matter but for me, it’s a matter of if the lipstick speaks to you in some sort of way, wear it.”

In the latest edition of iDiski Times you can also hear from new Kaizer Chiefs signings Ashley Du Preez, Zitha Kwinika and Dillan Solomons. We also hear from the new bosses from the Soweto giants, with Arthur Zwane outlaying his ambition for Kaizer Chiefs, and Jose Riveiro for Orlando Pirates. There is also reaction from Magaia, Kgoale and Majiya after Banyana’s historic WAFCON triumph, and reaction to Benni McCarthy’s appointment at Manchester United, plus much more.
