Orlando Pirates moved into second place in the DStv Premiership after a 1-0 win over 10-man AmaZulu at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.
The game was played at a frantic pace, with Usuthu looking for revenge from their 4-2 Nedbank Cup quarter-final defeat last week in Durban.
But the game was marred in what seemed to be a wrongfully awarded red card to Abubakar Mobara after 20 minutes, which, might have been for dissent in the end.
However, Pirates failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage for the remainder of the half and for most of the second as the visitors showed a good account of themselves with some tireless running.
But 15 minutes from time Tshegofatso Mabsa grabbed the lead, set up by substitute Monnapule Saleng, which marked his 11th league goal of the season.
He’s now back to joint top scorer with Lucas Ribeiro Costa, while Pirates moved into second above Stellenbosch on goal difference, albeit having played one game more.
