Mammila Set To Be Replaced After Resignation Comments

Chippa United and Morgan Mammila looks set to be replaced as head coach just hours after stating he would walk away from the job if he loses to AmaZulu.

Mammila has been a bullish figure since taking over as head coach at the Chili Boys and helped steady the ship with a club record four consecutive wins after succeeding Daine Klate at the helm.

However, the last 10 games has only yielded one victory, four draws, and five defeats leaving them six points off 16th-placed Marumo Gallants and three points ahead of the relegation play-off spot currently occupied by Maritzburg United.

“We need to panic, you can see, the log doesn’t lie, we number 13 and on 24 [points], others are 25, others are [on] 26, if you not winning it’s a problem,” Mammila said after the 2-1 defeat to Swallows saw them move level on points.

“We need to address this and one thing is for sure, if the coming match I’m not winning, it means, huh uh… I’m not gonna stand and watch this team [failing].

“Remember I’m a manager, I’m a businessman, I’m a person who is fair and honest, if I don’t win against my competitors then there’s trouble, then I’m not a man who’s trouble.

“Let’s be honest, if I don’t win against AmaZulu, what am I here for then, to relegate the team? No, no, no – I think I’ve done my part. Football is about winning, and if you’re not winning and my direct competitors are, it’s a problem.

“My aim is to protect this team, to protect this multi-million status, this team belongs to my friend and I’m a good friend, I won’t let my friend lose the status.”

iDiski Times has been informed that Mammila may not be in charge against Usuthu next Sunday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, but calls to Mammila and Chairman Chippa Mpengesi have not been responded to at the time of publishing.
