Kaizer Chiefs head coach says sections of the media is influencing club’s supporters to unreal expectations this season.
With Chiefs on a decade-long trophy drought and coming off the back of their worst ever season in the Premier Soccer League by finishing tenth, Nabi was lured to the club from Botola Pro club ASFAR, with the intention of rebuilding the club.

In his first press conference after his appointment, he stated it won’t be an overnight project, but is confident they can restore the pride of the club, which he stated is one of the biggest in the continent.
“The thing I want, I don’t want to highlight that the management brought me in for a special mission,” Nabi said.
“I am here to fulfil is a mission that has steps, the first step is a transition period, we’re not saying that to cover ourselves because of the results, negative of positive but we must stick to the same trajectory of the mission.
“This mission that we are fulfilling has many steps and there are some media that are trying to portray Chiefs that it’s a contender for a trophy or league immediately which is not the case.”
Nabi said the right personnel, experience, and building confidence in his game model among the building blocks to get Amakhosi back on track as they suffered two defeats and a draw in their last three league games.
“We have to play and get the results right, but in the meantime, there’s something that has happened, 10 years without a trophy, last season, probably the worst season in Chiefs history, 10th, which brings us to a long-term project to become the Chiefs everyone wants to see, to be on top of the table, challenge for trophies,” he continued.
“But there are steps for this, and we need to move methodically for this success, we don’t want to create a misunderstanding with the fans, but we promise we are doing everything we can to reach this level as soon as possible.

“But we have to call out media that are influencing fans that Chiefs are challenging for the league immediately, it’s not the case…
