Ngezana – I’m Not Just Here To Add Numbers

Siyabonga Ngezana has said that Kaizer Chiefs want to finish the season on a high note and that will start with a good result away against Stellenbosch in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.

Stellies host Chiefs at the Danie Craven on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm.

Ngezana, who made a return from injury in February after three months out, said they want to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to SuperSport United, where he feels they shouldn’t have lost.

“We will rebuild against Stellenbosch,” Ngezana told the club’s website.

“We hope to finish the season on a high note, that’s the only thing we can do now. The Stellenbosch game will be crucial for us. It’s an away game, but we are looking to return home with three points.

“We shouldn’t have lost that game (against SuperSport). But it’s a learning curve for us. We created a lot of chances, but it was one of those days when luck was not on our side.

“They created only two chances and managed to convert one of the chances they had. There was a lack of concentration on our part and we could have defended better as defenders. They caught us out of position and scored. Now (against Stellenbosch) we need to rectify our mistakes. If we manage to keep a clean sheet at the back, we would be doing our job as defenders.”

Ngezana has featured in eight of Chiefs last 10 games and insisted he’s pushing himself hard to help the team.

“It’s not about individuals, but I am happy I am back to add something to the team,” he added.

“I’m not just here to add numbers, I’m pushing myself hard to be consistent and to help the team to win games. It is up to me to push myself and things will fall into place.”

Overall, the 24-year-old has made nine appearances for the Glamous Boys this campaign.I’m not just here to add numbers,
