Official: Chippa Appoint Vilakazi As TD

Chippa United have appointed Vusimuzi Vilakazi as the club’s Technical Director just days after he left his role at Golden Arrows.

Vilakazi resigned from his role as co-coach Mabhuti Khenyeza at Arrows over the weekend, as first reported by iDiski Times.

However, he wasn’t without a job for long and Chippa have snapped him up in a new TD role.

“Chippa United Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr.
Kanu Vilikazi as the new Head Technical Director of the club,” the club stated.

“Mr. Vilikazi is set to oversee the clubs development structures and senior team. His vast experience and deep expertise will play a crucial role in uplifting the performance levels of our club as a whole. He will work closely with the first team’s technical staff, offering support to our head coach.

“The Chairman shared his enthusiasm on this appointment, remarking, ‘Having Mr.
Vilikazi, with his caliber and experience, join our club is indeed a proud moment for us. I am eagerly anticipating his contribution to our development structures, and confident that his insights will immensely benefit our first team.’

“As Chippa United Football Club we are optimistic that with Mr. Vilikazi’s leadership, the club is poised to usher in an era of footballing brilliance, building upon its robust legacy which is to be the Pride of Eastern Cape.”

Vilakazi spent 20 years at the club – from being a player to being the communications manager and leading the club two DStv Diski Challenge titles.

He was appointed as the club’s co-coach at the start of last season alongside Mabhuti Khenyeza after initially replacing Lehlohonolo Seema on an interim basis in April last year.

He left Arrows despite the club sitting in second place, with 10 points from five games and a rousing 3-0 win over SuperSport United before the international break.
