One In, Two Out – Barker Confirms Stellies Transfers

Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has confirmed the departure of duo Anicet Oura and Antonio Van Wyk.

Stellies has been one of the most active sides in the current transfer window with outgoings and incomings. They lost two of their key players in the space of a week in Deano Van Rooyen and Iqraam Rayners.

Barker has now confirmed that Oura and Van Wyk have since left the club. Van Wyk is said to have signed for Austrian club SV Ried while Oura has departed for Qatar.

The Carling Knockout Cup winning coach confirmed to the media that the club is looking to strengthen the squad, with the first arrival being Nigerian defender Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill, as reported by iDiski Times.

“We have signed a Nigerian right-back, and he’s waiting for his visa. And so hopefully, it seems like you’ve travelled into South Africa next week, and with the loss of Deano, that’s a replacement I think we need, extra depth in that position,” Barker told the media after their MTN8 final progression.

“Anicet Oura and Antonio Van Wyk have also departed, so we need to replace the two of them with at least one winger-type player, which we will also be in the market for, and perhaps in midfield, we need to just show up our numbers.

“We are probably about two or three signings away from having enough depth and quality throughout the squad.”
