PSL Announce Sep/Oct PSL Award Winners

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) have announced the first monthly award winners of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

With the new sponsor coming on board, the league started with a month delay this season and with domestic cup competitions and international football added to the calendar, it’s been a stop-start league campaign thus far, with only six/seven rounds of fixtures.

But there have been some that have shown excellence and consistency to be honoured with the Player of the Month tag and Coach of the Month, respectively.

It was always going to be Jose Riveiro from Orlando Pirates with six wins from six games over September and October, but the player category was a close-fought one.

In the end, Lucas Ribeiro Costa with four goals and two assists in his opening five games was a standout performer in the league.

The Goal of the Month was also packed with strong contenders between the likes of Mohau Nkota, Bradley Mojela, Fawaaz Basadien and Andile Jali.

But the Setllenbosch left-back won it with his spectacular effort in the Cape Derby against Cape Town City when he netted a stunner from his own half.

September\October PSL Awards:

  • Player of the Month – Lucas Ribeiro Costa (Mamelodi Sundowns)
  • Coach of the Month – Jose Riveiro (Orlando Pirates)
  • Goal of the Month – Fawaaz Basadien (Stellenbosch v Cape Town City)
