‘Rele Is Ready For An Overseas Move’

Former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe believes that Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng is ready to make that much talked-about leap of faith overseas.

The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the best young talents in South African football with two good seasons in topflight. This past season he also announced himself on the continental stage where Pirates exited at the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League while attracting attention from outside the shores of South Africa, and most recently a club in Israel.

The former Leeds United captain believes the Bafana Bafana international doesn’t need to prove himself any more than he already has and a move abroad at this stage will be good for the youngster.

“I think he’s ready [to go to Europe],” Radebe told iDiski Times.

“For me you don’t need five, 10 seasons in the PSL to be able to go. You know you need two great seasons like Rele is doing because they can improve. They can even do better. You know he can develop easier at this stage where he can go and as early as possible. That’s what we need.

“I believe people like Siphiwe Tshabalala, people like Yeye Letsholonyane they could have gone overseas, our goalkeeper Itu [Khune] they could have gone a long time ago but staying at a club for a longer period doesn’t help.

“For me I believe they must go as young as they can.”
