Riveiro’s Ahly In Stalemate Vs Messi’s Miami In CWC Opener

The opening half could not have been more one sided in terms of chances created with Al Ahly forcing six saves out of veteran goalkeeper Oscar Ustari while also being clean through on goal with a slight offside from Wessam Abou Ali.

It was one way traffic with the home side, who were also outnumbered slightly in a packed Hard Rock Stadium by the Alhawy faithful – struggled to contain the attacking prowess of Jose Riveiro’s side.

Despite losing influential midfielder Emam Ashour in the early stages with a shoulder injury, they didn’t lose much quality when new signing Ahmed Sayed Zizo made his way onto the pitch and he won the penalty.

But Ustari managed to save the spot-kick for the hosts and take the game into the break goalless. Somehow…

Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi who were clear crowd favourites with their legendary status in the game grew in influence in the second half and the the home side started to dominate proceedings. But much like Ahly in the opening half, did not take their chances.

The game ended in a stalemate but the atmosphere and energy of the fixture in Miami this morning.
