Manchester United left it late as they overcame Fulham by 1-0 with new striker Joshua Zirkzee the late winner
The game started with both sides looking to get a goal as early as possible. Fulham had a shot on goal in the eighth minute when Adama Traore took a shot inside the box which was too high.
The first shot on target came in the 13th minute when Fulham right-back Kenny Tete took a shot from outside the box and Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana made a good save to concede a corner.
After 20 minutes of football, United finally found the groove and Lisandro Martinez played a good pass to Bruno Fernandes who took a shot but it went wide, as United looked to pile pressure on Fulham. After 34 minutes Fernandes once again with a shot from the centre of the box but Bernd Leno was equal to the task.
The first half ended with both teams attacking each other and looking to get that important goal but it remained goalless.
After 61 minutes Joshua Zirkzee came on for his debut for Manchester United alongside Alejandro Garnacho.
Rodrigo Muniz nearly put Fulham ahead in the 62 minute but Onana saved the ball to concede a corner. With 10 minutes remaining before the final whistle, Man United came close Fernandes took a shot from outside the box Leno saved it.
United introduced yet another debutant with nine minutes to play in Matthijs Ligt as he was replacing another debutant Noussair Mazraoui.
In the 87th minute Casemiro played a through ball to Garnacho who wasted no time and crossed it inside the box, where Zirkzee made no mistake as he placed it inside bottom corner.
