Portugal Boss Not Happy With Ronaldo

Portugal boss Fernando Santos has confirmed he was not happy at all with Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction to being substituted against South Korea.

The 37-year-old threw his toys as Santos took him off in the 65th minute of Portugal’s dead rubber third group match after already being qualified with the game tied at 1-1.

South Korea went on to win the match 2-1 but the major talking point in Portuguese media was Ronaldo’s reaction, which also upset his own coach.

“Have I seen the images,” Santos said on Monday, as quoted by The Sun.

“Yes, I didn’t like it, not at all. I didn’t like it. I really didn’t like it.

“But from that moment onwards everything is finished regarding that issue.

“These matters are resolved behind closed doors. It’s resolved.

“Full stop on this matter and now everyone is focused on tomorrow’s match.”

Portugal take on Switzerland in Tuesday’s final round of 16 clash, while Ronaldo is chasing Eusebio’s record of nine World Cup goals.
