Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly have suffered another huge blow ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup that kicks off in the United Arab Emirates next week.
The African Champions are likely to be without the services of Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau after he suffered an injury in the Egyptian League cup defeat to Smouha this week.
“Osama Moustafa, the youth team’s doctor, stated that Percy Tau, Al Ahly forward, suffered an anterior muscle injury,” the club revealed in an official statement.
“Moustafa added that Tau will be sidelined for four weeks and he will perform a rehabilitation program to fully recover from his injury.”
Tau now joins their inspirational captain Mohamed El Shenaway and right-back Akram Tawfik who suffered injury with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
They could be without more players for their opener against Monterrey on Thursday should the Phahroes and Tunisia advance further in the competition.
