Al Ahly Hit Back At Pitso Critics
Al Ahly board member Mohamed Serageldin has hit back at the “unjustified” criticism Pitso Mosimane has received since joining the Egyptian giants.
Mosimane has lifted three trophies since October, namely the Egyptian Cup, the CAF Champions League and last week’s CAF Super Cup.
In addition, he also collected an Egyptian Premier League medal although the league was already secured by his predecessor Rene Weiler before ‘Jingles’ joined the club.
Despite his success, the South African has continuously been questioned by former Al Ahly players as well as some pundits in Egypt, but Serageldin has hit back at those who question Mosimane.
“I am happy with the successive march of victories and titles, we hope for more in the future,” he said, as per Kingfut.
“Mosimane’s choice is very successful. He took on the task at a difficult time, and he did not go through a preparation period but took responsibility in October.
“His results are more than excellent, and he doesn’t deserve the criticism he’s getting.
“The fans are the strongest support for the team, and despite this generation of players lack of this important form of support, they have achieved a lot, which is something to take into consideration when comparing them to other generations.
“The pressure of the league games is very difficult in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The matches schedule is not clear, which is evident in the variation in the number of games played by each team, as we find a team that played three or five games more than others.”
Mosimane has given his players a six-day rest after their Egyptian Cup game against ENPPI was postponed.
They will return to training on 10 June and the small break will be much welcome after the ‘Club of the Century’ already featured in 30 games since the beginning of the year.
