Pitso Collects Important Win
Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly have collected another important win in the Egyptian Premier League, beating fourth-placed Al Masry 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Al Aly entered the game on the back of a 3-1 win at ENPPI, which followed their first and only defeat to Smouha.
Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring inside just 11 minutes after receiving a long ball by Ahmed Kota from inside Al Ahly’s own half, with his initial shot being saved by the Al Masry keeper before converting the rebound.
Five minutes later, Al Masry themselves had the ball in Mohamed El Shenawy’s net, but a header at the far post was rule offside.
Another good chance for Al Masry came 10 minutes before the break but a header by Ahmed Shousha sailed over the bar.
Al Masry did eventually find the equaliser in stoppage time of the first half, with Omar Kamal scoring with his right foot after a corner was flicked on at the near post to find him unmarked in the box.
Sherif, however, completed his brace in the 63rd minute, finishing a fine Al Ahly move from close range to secure another important victory for Mosimane and his men.
As a consequence, Al Ahly once again cut their gap on leaders Zamalek to three points, having two goals in hand over the White Knights.
