Tso – Why I Would’ve Picked Khune For Olympics
Orlando Pirates legend Tso Vilakazi has explained why he would’ve picked Itumeleng Khune as one of the three overaged players for the SA Olympics squad.
Vilakazi addressed David Notoane’s selections for the Tokyo Olympics in his column in this week’s iDiski Times.
Notoane announced his squad for the upcoming tournament, including Ronwen William and Abubakar Mobara as overaged players, but Vilakazi says he would’ve picked three others.
“David Notoane has selected Ronwen Williams, Abubakar Mobara and Thabiso Kutumela as the overage players joining our squad,” Tso explain in his iDiski Times column.
“There is some noise about Ronwen Williams although I don’t think he is a bad keeper. Here is who I would have picked; Itumeleng Khune, Mosa Lebusa and Kermit Erasmus.
“Khune is a simple one because of his experience, in my eyes he remains one of the best in the country.
“Erasmus has his injury concerns but at the moment he is fit and I think he would have added so much spice for us upfront. Lebusa has had a great season for Sundowns.”
South Africa start the tournament against hosts Japan, while France and Mexico are also in a tough Group A.
