Wydad Boost Confidence Ahead Of Chiefs

Wydad Casablanca boosted their confidence ahead their second leg against Kaizer Chiefs with a victory over RS Berkane despite sending the B-team to the domestic fixture on Tuesday.

The Botola Pro leaders opted to rest 10 of their regular starters ahead of the away leg in their CAF Champions League semi-final and were seemingly prepared to drop points in the league.

However, Wydad’s B-team stepped up to the occasion and collected three points against the CAF Confederations Cup winners on Tuesday night, beating them 2-0.

The result will be a welcome confidence boost after their 1-0 home defeat to Chiefs and it sees Wydad go six points clear of second-placed Raja Casablanca, who have a game in hand.

Wydad also confirmed on Wednesday morning that they are on their way to South Africa where coach Faouzi Benzarti will surely field his strongest XI in attempt to overturn the first-leg defeat on Saturday.
