Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole has completed a return to the Primera Liga with Gil Vicente ahead of the new season.
Sithole, 25, joins the club from Tondela on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent.
It marks a promising step for the South Africa international whose become a mainstay in Hugo Broos’ midfield over the past two seasons.
At club level, he scored two goals with as many assists in 27 games with Tondela last season and reunites with his former head coach Tozé Marreco.
Having first arrived in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon at the age of 18, it’s now going into the seventh year for the KZN Academy graduate in Europe.
