Al Ahly contracts director Amr Tawfik has confirmed the club are looking to extend the contract of head coach Pitso Mosimane beyond the current season.
Mosimane seemingly had the faith of the club from the beginning as he bucked the trend of Ahly offering one-year contracts to their head coaches.
Now as he enters the final six months of his original two-year deal, the club are preparing new improved terms after his incredible success thus far.
The South African has secured two CAF Champions League titles, Egypt Cup, CAF Super Cup and a third-place finish at the last FIFA Club World Cup – which he will contest again in two months time.
Club President Mahmoud El-Khatib stated recently that Mosimane ‘deserves’ a wage increase for the work he’s done and he now looks set to become the first coach, since the most successful manager in their history Manuel Jose, to remain beyond the two-year mark at the club.
“The club wants Mosimane to continue leading the team,” Tawfik confirmed, as per KingFut.
“A longer contract increases the team’s stability, there will be a meeting between club president Mahmoud El-Khatib and Pitso Mosimane to discuss the new contract at a later date.”
Mosimane, Mahmoud El Khatib and the new chairman of the Al Ahly company Yassin Mansour held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the future plans of the club.
