Baroka Unveil New Kit & 6 Signings
By Lethabo Kganyago
Baroka have unveiled their new kit for the 2021/22 season as well as six signings for the first team.
Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele says his club is not big on so called marquee signings, as the Limpopo side announced six new players at the club’s village outside Lebowakgomo on Wednesday, namely Sydney Malivha from Marumo Gallants’ development side, Train Mokhabi from JDR Stars in the Glad Africa championship, Decide Chauke from TS Sporting and Seleka Sithole from Cape Umoya while they promoted Bennet Bobete and Tshegofatso Bosega from their development structures.
“In our history or in our record we never sign so called big players, even if you sign those so called big players they come here and flop,” he told reporters.
“These are the players that are making us progress. so there is no player that we are going to sign, we can’t sign a 30 year old player. That I say no you can’t do that. Football is a business and players are the asset of the team.
“If you sign someone that’s 30 years that means you are signing a wreck, footstool. We are not going to sign a footstool we want brand new, and where will you get brand new players? You get brand new players from the development structures.”
The chairman also announced that there will be two more signings in the coming weeks with one of those players currently in the South African Olympic squad.
Mphahlele further added that for now the 2018 Telkom Knockout champions cannot sign any foreign players as they have reached the capacity of their foreign player quota.
“We have got Chipezeze (Elvis), we have Phiri Jr (Gerald), we got Kambala (Manuel), we’ve got Kamatuka (Joslin), and we got Mbulu (Richard),” he explained.
“Those are our five foreign players so we’ve are not allowed to sign the sixth one so we are not going to sign any foreign player now.”
The club also launched their new kit at the same event which featured their Yellow away strip and the alternative strip in Mint.
Baroka technical sponsors Monflair also announced that the Green home jersey will be launched on social media soon.
