Playoff Farce Ends With Fourth Walkover
The Premier Soccer League relegation/promotion playoffs have come to an end after Royal AM once again did not honour the final fixture against Chippa United.
As happened before, Chippa’s players took to the field and the match official blew his whistle twice, with no opposition in sight.
Royal AM have now abandoned all their four playoff fixtures, with the matter expected to be settled in court.
Chippa have seemingly finished the playoffs on top after beating Richards Bay 2-1 before drawing the second leg 1-1, while both side’s should receive six points for the no-shows of Royal AM, thus ensuring their DStv Premiership position for 2021/22 – at least on the field of play.
Earlier on Wednesday, Royal AM sent out a cryptic tweet of the GladAfrica Championship log, with them at the top ahead of Sekhukhune.
This would have been the final standings, had Sekhukhune not been awarded three points for their game against Polokwane City, which ultimately helped them to finish above Royal AM and gain automatic DStv Premiership promotion, as confirmed by the Premier Soccer League.
