AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy has revealed why he might call his coaching rival Steve Komphela for advice this season.
The 43-year-old has seen his side lose their first two games of the 2021/22 and campaign after being knocked out of the MTN8 by Cape Town City before losing their DStv Premiership opener to Mamelodi Sundowns.
As a consequence, McCarthy was asked whether his side has enough depth to compete on all fronts and responded by saying hat he might ask someone like Komphela for advice.
“I have very, very good relationships with coaches who manage teams that played in the CAF Champions League, I might ask them for some perspective on recovery processes and how do they manage the squad. We will have conversations,” McCarthy told reporters.
“I have a very good relationship with coach Steve Komphela. And he is only a phone call away for me to ask. It wouldn’t hurt to ask someone that’s been in that situation, that’s been there, that’s done that.
“We share information, because in the end of the day when we go on the continent we not just representing AmaZulu, we are representing South Africa.
“A South African team is playing on the continent, so South African teams have to support each other and they know better than us that feeling and the process of handling that kind of experience of going to CAF and challenging in the league at the same time and in the cup.
“If there is some knowledge that we can gain from that than why not.”
