Brandon Truter says that Swallows’ stoppage time victory over Royal AM in the DStv Premiership on Sunday was well deserved.
Swallows substitute Strydom Wambi grabbed the winner just before the full-time in the clubs’ opening league game, the first for Royal AM in top flight football.
Truter says while the goal came late, he felt his team dominated proceedings, and deserved the three points.
“A very dominant performance, especially in the first half, but a well deserved victory,” Truter said after the win.
“Yes, Royal AM had the odd moment here indeed. But we had much more moments.
“I think in the in the first half we got so many ball into the final third, so many ball into the penalty area, but lack of awareness and also poor decision making let them off the hook. They managed to come in at nil-nil.
“We kept on pressing and probing. They got out with a counter here and there, but nothing to bother us. Just towards the end when they got the two corners, put us under a bit of pressure because of the score line.
“But the changes, Pule Saleng, Keletso Makgalwa Zeph Mbokoma, Wambi also, brought some impetus, brought some forward movement, brought some engaging their defenders as well, and that put them on the backfoot. Good cross from Keletso and good finish from Wambi as well.
“So well deserved, well deserved, glory to God to what he’s doing here, it came so late, last season as well it came very late. You must be patient, when God is in control, you must be patient.
“But congratulation to the guys. Congratulations to the whole Swallows FC for management, it’s a good team we have here, so we look forward to the season, we look forward to the next encounter.”
