Bafana Bafana and TS Galaxy midfielder Ethan Brooks has said it’s a great honour to be compared to a great South African player like Steven Pienaar.
While he missed this week’s games in the Cosafa Cup through injury, Brooks featured in the first two matches of the competition and also in Bafana’s 3-2 win over Uganda, when he made his debut.
“I feel really great about you know, having a regular starts in the Bafana setup, it shows that the coach has a lot of trust and confidence in me,” Brooks told TS Galaxy’s media department.
“And as a player that means a lot, builds my confidence as I go game by game and allowing me to start is a great opportunity for me to go out there and showcase my talent.
Brooks also opened up on comparisons with ‘Schillo’, who made 62 appearances for the national team.
“How I am handling the pressure with being compared to the likes of Steven Pienaar?
“How I’m I handling it, I mean, yoh, he is one of th best football players that came from South Africa that’s played here in the country and abroad.
“So for me, I’m willing to handle the pressure, just take it day by day, don’t put too much pressure on myself.”
