Chiefs Respond To Club Sale Rumours

Kaizer Chiefs have rubbished reports that the club will be sold, saying they’re fake news.

The Glamour Boys took to social media to label a report that Chiefs would be sold to “Saudi oil giants for R512 million” as fake news.

It was claimed that Chiefs were facing financial difficulties in the past five years and could lose some of its main sponsors such as Hollard, Toyota and Nike.

However, the club completely distanced themselves from the “fake news”, saying the club is not for sale.

“Fake News! The Club is NOT for sale,” a statement said on social media.

“Please be aware of fake news going around social media and other platforms.

“Please follow us on our official Club properties for authentic news. You can e-mail us and call us to confirm as well.”

Chiefs were formed in 1970 after Kaizer Motaung returned from his stint in the United States.

They are one of South Africa’s most successful clubs but have not lifted any silverware since 2014/15.
