Chiefs Technical Team Shaping Up As Fitness Coach Next To Arrive

The new Kaizer Chiefs technical team is beginning the shape-up, as the club returns for the start of pre-season.

Following the arrivals of Fernando da Cruz, the first assistant to Nasreddine Nabi and goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi on Sunday, both are poised to sign two-year deals with one-year options, with contracts that were verbally agreed prior to their arrivals.

iDiski Times understands former Raja Athletic Club and Wydad Athletic Club fitness coach Majdi Safi will arrive next, as he looks to start working on the squad alongside Da Cruz and the Mauritania national team goalkeeper coach, Mzoughi.

It was a methodical plan from Chiefs, who still have to bide their time on the arrival of Nabi due to the Tunisian still, technically being contracted to ASFAR, after they booked their ticket in the Moroccan Throne Cup final.

Sources indicate, that while a deal is agreed in principle over personal terms, Chiefs are still required to fork out the compensation, to buy him out of the remainder of his contract with the Botola Pro club, which is said to be imminent.

The long protracted saga is due to the domestic cup competition that has drawn out way beyond the season-ending date scheduling.

Khalil Ben Youssef, the second assistant and performance analyst Ayman Makroud will arrive alongside Nabi.

While the process is inevitable with Nabi’s technical team already taking shape, Da Cruz, who was interviewed earlier this month at Sekhukhune United as their potential next head coach, will lead the charges at Naturena this week.

ASFAR secured a place in the Throne Cup final after beating MAS FES 2-0 on Sunday evening in Agadir.
