Chiefs To Still Miss Big Names

Kaizer Chiefs stand-in coach, Arthur Zwane has revealed that not all players who were not in the squad against Sekhukhune United can possibly return for the next match.

Amakhosi returned to DStv Premiership action on Sunday, when they managed to beat Babina Noko 2-0, playing with a few fringe players after the regulars were out due to the Covid-19 out-break at Naturena.

Zwane, though, has confirmed that players will not be fully be recovered and more will miss the coming game, before saying that they even had to force Phathutshedzo Nange to play despite some breathing issues.

“Unfortunately, we won’t be able to have everybody back and fully fit and ready for the next coming game,” he told reporters after the match.

“Certain players when they come back, they still have to go for test and start maybe doing some physical work before they can join the rest of the boys.

“As you could see even today, we risked Phathu (Nange) and you could see he was actually breathing heavily and at some point he was coughing, but we had no choice because we wanted to consolidate, we needed him, and Njabulo Blom had been already cramping.

10111, as he is affectionately known, also mentioned that they were ready to play MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) players, but didn’t want to field too many young players at the same time.

“We would have loved to bring one of the younger boys from the development, the reserve team, but at some point we didn’t want to just throw them into the deep end we thought that we had enough young players already on the field,” he added.

“When we had (Kgaogelo) Sekgota, Njabulo and Siya Ngezana, I think today we played about seven boys who were young, which is good for the team and for the future of this team. So yeah, we had to try to manage the game more than anything else.”

The Glamour Boys will travel to Kwazul-Natal to face Royal AM at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday, 19 in the DStv Premiership.
