Covid Hits Bafana Camp Again
Bafana Bafana’s preparations for the Cosafa Cup have been dealt a blow as two members of the party have tested positive covid-19.
One player and one technical staff member have tested positive, while a second player who was in close contact, has also been isolated.
This was confirmed by the team doctor, Dr Tshepo Molobi.
“The entire team tested yesterday on the first of July,” Molobi told SAFA media.
“And we got the results early this morning, with two positive cases, one being a player and one official. And so we then quickly started the process of quarantine for the two positive cases.
“And then there is the issue of the close contact of the one player, who we also then isolated. Currently, the three affected individuals are asymptomatic, doing well.
“And so with the close contact player, what will then do is to monetize symptoms, if there are any, between now and say day 6, 7, we will repeat the test, and then pending what the coaching staff decides, then he just might be reintroduced into the squad.
“But at the moment, that is the situation we have two positive cases, a player and one technical staff member, with one close contact of the positive whose results are himself negative.”
