Who Is Next At Chippa?
After successfully navigating the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs, Chippa United will be on the look out for a new coach for next season.
The club bid farewell to current head coach, Lehlohonolo Seema after the playoffs.
Seema has been linked to the vacant coaching role at Golden Arrows, which became available after Mandla Ncikazi’s departure for Orlando Pirates.
It was the former Pirates and Lesotho captain’s second stint at the Chilli Boyz this season, he had started the 2020/2021 season as coach, but was replaced by Dan Malesela, although the club had tried to appoint Luc Eymael.
When they parted ways with Malesela, again Chippa Mpengesi tried to appoint the controversial Eymael, going as far as naming him as technical director, with Siyabulela Gwambi as coach. By Eymael stay lasted just days, and instead they appoint former coach Vladislav Heric.
But Heric lasted just a month, before the club turned to Seema again, who had been at Black Leopards since his last stint.
The former Celtic coach confirmed Wednesday was his last day, and it was a short term contract.
After Wednesday’s game, Seema told SuperSport Mpengesi asked, “Can you come and finish it and make sure that we don’t get this straight automatic relegation spot?
“And then you can plan for the playoffs also, and then you make sure that you come back from the playoff.
“That was my mandate and my contract was as short as that, and today I can rightfully say that ja, we may still have a talk maybe with the chairman, I don’t know what will happen, my contract was until till today, the 30th, and ja, I’m out.”
