Confirmed: AmaZulu Announce Truter Decision

May 25, 2022

AmaZulu have confirmed that Brandon Truter has secured himself the permanent head coach position at the club.

Truter took over from Benni McCarthy after the reigning DStv Premiership Coach of the Season left the club by mutual consent on 25 March.

He collected three 1-0 wins, three 0-0 draws and a 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows in their final game of the season to finish in seventh place.

This publication was informed of Truter’s appointment via the club’s PR Manager Phumlani Dube.

“I can confirm that Brandon Truter has been given the head coach position at AmaZulu FC,” Dube said.

“This comes after he joined Usuthu few months ago, following the departure of Benni McCarthy. He has done well hence we’ve decided to hire him as a head coach.

“As much as I can’t talk about the duration of the contract but I can confirm he will lead AmaZulu FC in the upcoming season that starts in August 2022.”

Earlier on Wednesday, president Sandile Zungu had already stated that Truter has done enough to earn himself the head coach role for the 2022/23 campaign.

“Yes, I can confirm Brandon Truter will get his permanent appointment as coach, he did well under the circumstances,” Zungu told KickOff.

“And quite clearly we were not going to make a top-eight finish at the rate which we were going.

“He’s done well to secure a seventh position finish, I can’t go into details but he’s going to be our permanent coach.”
