Johnny Ferreira has resigned as Director of Football at GladAfrica Championship side .Sekhukhune United.
Ferreira had been the Head Coach of the club at the start of the season for the new PSL franchise, but last month he was replaced by MacDonald Makhubedu, the former Polokwane City coach.
Ferreira was however ‘promoted’ to the role of a Director of Football.
Ferreira was spotted at Polokwane City’s Nedbank Cup game earlier in the day, and it has been suggested he could be heading to replace Makhubedu there.
Sekhukhune released a statement on Wednesday night, confirming Ferreira’s exit.
“Sekhukhune United Football Club have today parted ways with Mr Johnny Ferreira after his resignation as a Director of Football,” the statement read.
“Mr Ferreira was appointed as head coach in August 2019 and did a sterling job until January 2021 where was promoted as a Director of Football position.”
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Executive Chairman, Mr Simon Malatji would like to thank Mr Ferreira for his work as Head Coach as well as a director of football and wish him every success in the future.”
