GladAfrica Championship Round-Up

Despite drawing on the weekend, JDR Stars remain top of the GladAfrica Championship after another weekend of South African second tier action.

On Saturday JDR Stars missed an opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table, when they drew 1-1 with Richards Bay. Zimbabwean Ishmael Wadi had given JDR an early lead with his seventh goal of the season, before Vusimuzi Mngomezulu found an equaliser.

There was also a draw between Cape Town All Stars and Jomo Cosmos, with it ending 2-2 in Cape Town, but there were wins for Black Leopards – Isaac Masia scoring as they beat Pretoria Callies 1-0 – and Venda Football Academy, who won 1-0 away at Platinum City Rovers. Mutsivhuli Rotondwa scoring for VFA.

On Sunday only three games were played after the Polokwane City and Free State Stars match was called off due to inclement weather.

AmaTuks missed an opportunity to join JDR Stars at the top as they drew goalless against Uthongathi.

However Shaun Bartlett picked up his first win as Cape Town Spurs coach, as his team won 3-0 away to Tshakhuma, Chico Bunga, Jairo Da Silva, Abednigo Mosiathlaga and Ashley Cupido with the goals.

There was also an away victory for TS Sporting, who beat Hungry Lions 1-0.
