Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele has expressed his happiness after capping his 400th appearance for the club with a victory and a Man of the Match performance.
Orlando Pirates collected their first three points of the season when they beat Swallows FC 1-0 in the DStv Premiership encounter at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The 34-year-old was voted was Man of the Match for his individual great performance during his milestone game, as he registered 400 appearances for the team in the PSL era.
“It was important for the team, you know; we did not start well the previous games,” he told SuperSport TV after the match.
“We managed to draw two games and lose one in the cup, so we wanted to win at home you know, to force a win so that each and every one in the team can gain confidence.
“So we did it, you know. It was great and each and every one in the team was working so hard, you know, putting effort, and we managed three points, so I’m happy the way the guys play.”
When asked about his Man of the Match performance in his special day, Jele took time to thank his teammates and the coaching staff.
“I’d like to thank each and every one who has been supporting me, you know, they have been encouraging me to play very well, I’d like to thank them,” he added
The Buccaneers are unbeaten so far in the DStv Premiership as they have drawn their first two opening games before registering their first victory against Swallows FC, and are third in the league standings.
